So I am not organized! Part II

I really enjoy cooking.  Sometimes I make really good things, other times not so much.  In recent years I have perfected 2 things:  homemade biscuits and mac and cheese.  As you might expect, I have no recipe.  The biscuits are made with butter flavored crisco, self rising flour and milk.  I mix the crisco and flour first.  How much??? Some!  I mix it until it is crumbly.  Then I add the milk.  Just enough to make it like dough, but not sticky.  Roll them out and cut them.  I bake some and freeze the rest.  See I do cook for the freezer every now and then.
Now for the mac and cheese.  The recipe is alot like the biscuits.  I cook "some" elbow macaroni, then add butter, milk and grated cheeses.  How much???  Some!  I just keep adding until it "looks" right.  What kind of cheese??  Whatever I have!  It is better if you have more than 1 type of cheese.  I prefer a mix of sharp cheddar, medium sharp cheddar and monterey jack.
Well, my cooking is as organized as I am....organized chaos that is.

So I am not organized!! PART I

I am not organized and I do not feel guilty about that!!! There I said it. I read so many blogs about how women organize the pantry alphabetically, cook for the freezer, have the kids on a schedule,organized coupon binder, etc, etc, etc. I wish I could be more organized, but my philosophy is more, well, I fly by the seat of my pants. People probably think I a ditzy blonde...that's ok. I don't care! Can I balance a check book? YES! Do I? Well, nooooo! Do I keep all my important papers filed in alphabetical order? NO! I have an important papers drawer. I stuff all receipts, warranties, insurance forms in a drawer. Is it all there at tax time? YES! Guess what? I am smart enough to do my own taxes and I am not organized...so there! OK, I digress. My point is, some of us look like we are not organized, but we have our own system that works just fine. Enjoy the system that works for you!!!

I think of myself as being frugal, cheap, tightwad....pick a name.  How have I missed all the Amazon deals?  Where have I been? I ordered several things from Amazon for Christmas.  Prices were reasonable and with orders over $40, shipping was free.  They have all sorts of Amazon clubs that offer free shipping...Amazon Prime, student accounts and new mothers. 

If you participate in any of the money for survey or rebate programs, most offer Amazon gift cards.  Also coinstar offers Amazon gift cards instead of cash with no fee.  I am saving my change and gift cards to use for my Christmas shopping for next year.

Cooking for the freezer....not so much!

I have never been able to master the whole "cooking for the freezer" concept.  It is a great idea, I am just not that organized.  I am occasionally able to remember to put the leftovers in the freezer.
There are few things I can do.  Tonight I cooked chicken, broccoli, peppers, mushrooms, and asparagus on the grill for supper. Since the grill was hot, I cooked hotdogs for tomorrow's lunch and grilled some sausage for breakfast.  The leftover peppers and onions will be perfect on the hotdogs.
This is the one organized meal planning I can do.  Whenever I cook on the grill, I throw on a few extra items for the next few meals...
