Stay out of the heat!

Are the really any frugal ways to beat the heat? I have my air conditioner set on 72 degrees and it never cuts off. I have cleaned the filters, closed all the blinds, run ceiling fans and extra fans, etc. etc. It is just HOT!!! There is no turning on the stove. Only cold foods at my house. So far this summer these techniques have worked and my electric bill has not been too bad, but the next one may be pretty high! What else can I do?
