I know, it is just October. Christmas will be here soon. I have an idea that my family did last year and will do again this year. Each family put in $50, then we each put a charity's name in the hat. We let one of the kids draw for the charity, then all the money was donated to that charity.
Now for the selfish part: 1. We all wrote checks, so it was tax deductible. 2. We each saved money, because we normally would have spent ALOT more money of presents, wrapping paper, ribbon, etc.
We all agreed, we have plenty of "stuff" and do not need any gifts. This was a great way to give back and remember the real meaning of CHRISTmas!
